cunning like doves

Cunning Like Doves: Inquiries with Women in the Art World is the beginning of a necessary investigation into the future of art and culture as it relates to women’s aspirations, equality, notions of democracy and failure. In light of the ongoing women’s movement (#metoo #notsurprised #timesup #believewomen #march8), this collection of in-depth interviews serves as an archival tool—aspiring to provide insight to those invested in the art world and women’s rights. In this assemblage, international women creatives, arts professionals and activists share personal accounts and their rapport with feminism, politics, law and society. Influenced by the International Women’s Day initiative to boycott institutions, companies and individuals who mistreat or discriminate against women in the workplace and in life—as well as Tarana Burke’s grassroots strategy—this candid series of text-based exchanges approaches an array of socio-political concerns and converging practices to suggest opportunities for reform and renewal.
